I am a Ph.D. student in the Inner Asian and Altaic Studies program at Harvard
University, where I am working on a dissertation about Uyghur historical
traditions. Over the last decade I have spent several years in Xinjiang, and met
many kind friends among the numismatic communities in Urumqi and Kashgar. I
started this site to help compensate for the lack of English-language material on
the Qing coins of Xinjiang, and to try to present a typology that highlights the
more historically significant variations in red cash. I am now slowly expanding
the site's coverage of Islamic coinage.
