Some have read "dar-al-Islam" rather than "dar-as-Sultanat" in the legends of some specimens. I have
not seen any coins with this legend, nor do any of the 32 examples illustrated in Dai (p. 400-407) seem to
hold up to this reading. I wonder if the reading of "dar-al-Isam" is a mis-reading from dated coins of the
large letter variety, where the usually sloppy numerals of the date might look like so many alefs and lams.
In any case, the last letter is clearly a "ta marbuta," written as a short, downward-leaning tail. This letter
form is common in 19th-century manuscripts produced in Xinjiang.
